Cutting Off a Parent

Rise & Shine 11:34

Some of us grew up believing that honoring a parent means never stepping back, no matter what. Adrienne looks at what happens when family patterns get passed down without anyone ever asking why, and what Jewish teaching actually says about the limits of that obligation. It turns out honoring a parent was never meant to require self-destruction. Sometimes the most honoring thing we can do is refuse to pass the same pain to the next generation. If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s possible to protect yourself and still hold onto your values, this conversation is for you.
