I held her in my arms as she cried, “I am here for all of the people I tried to save.”
This week has been incredible, as over 100 women are here on our first post-pandemic Momentum Trip. Almost half the group are “Healthcare Heroes”, people who have worked on the front lines through this global nightmare. Not only did they try to keep their families together and alive, every day they fought to save the lives of others, not always with success.
Thursday we spoke to them about prayer and took them to the Kotel…..and the floodgates opened.
For over a year they had to be strong, working heroically around the clock. Now they are in Israel being inspired, pampered, and honored. And it is all coming out– the pain, the physical and mental exhaustion, the fears, and at the Kotel, the deep gratitude for having survived.
One of the highlights for them was going to Sheba Medical Center and being twinned with a female medical professional in their field. They traded medical war stories, feeling connected in a way only they could understand.
The whole group cannot wait for Shabbat– and neither can I. What an honor and a privilege to be with them each and every day.
