How does one emerge back into life after living such a sheltered, on-guard existence for so long….?
I write to you “on the road”, having traveled from Tel Aviv to Newark to Detroit to see our daughter, son-in-law and delicious new granddaughter….two days later
our daughter drove me to the Canadian border, and because of great pre-trip preparation help from one of my awesome professional colleagues, my paperwork passed, I crossed into Canada, and boarded a train for Toronto.
While on the train the news broke that Toronto and the province of Ontario are going into a month-long stay-at-home lockdown, so I got in just in time!
Ahead of me is a 14 day quarantine, (countries are way behind Israel in recognizing vaccinations), unless an application for a “compassionate exemption” is approved…stay tuned!
I am missing my husband, my home, my country, and the protected little world we built together these past 13 months, but right now every day is another adventure navigating the forms, tests and travel. To survive this new giant step, I focus on being here, being present, and taking each day as it comes.
To the handful of mask-wearing Canadian travelers on the train from Windsor to Toronto– Israel is opening up while Ontario shuts down. I have seen your future, and it is filled with light and hope. Stay home, stay the course, and pray. This, too, shall pass.
