Dear Momentum Family –
As you know, my father passed away this year, and now my mother, in her grief, is struggling with her emotional and physical health. Many of you can probably relate, as so many of us have aging parents, and parents are coping with loss after years of marriage. Mine were married for 63 years.
We were hoping she would be strong enough to come to our daughter’s wedding in two weeks in New York, but alas, it does not look like that will be possible.
And so the tears that will be shed at the Simcha will not only be tears of joy, but also of loss – the first wedding without my father, and now without my mother.
The one consolation is that we are taught that the souls of our loved ones come to the Chuppahs, the Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, as they are attracted to Mitzvahs that happen in this world.
So for my father, we will welcome his spiritual presence from heaven. For my mother, we will use technology so that she can watch live from her hospital room in Toronto.
Please keep her in your prayers: Faiga bat Raizel.
Thank you. Bless you.
Good Shabbos, Shabbat Shalom–
Lori
