Dear Momentum Family–
And you are family.
This morning (3 am in Israel), I saw Sheri Levy, a Momentum Sister in L.A. with JWI, go live online to auction off her famous challah. Sheri did this to support a young man who she knows who stocks shelves in a local grocery store to pay off his student loans, risking his life so that the community could have food.
So many of her Momentum Sisters bid on the challah (I think the winner was well over $100), and she asked them to ‘Venmo’ him money as well. And they did.
While she was auctioning, she was greeting those who were chatting and bidding. She saw that I was up (working — Momentum is exploding online!) and gave me the warmest “shout out.”
L.A. Jerusalem. So far and yet so close.
Because as Lihi Lapid, a member of our Israel Public Council, wrote we are alone, together.
Thank you, Hashem, for giving us this miraculous technology, so that during this “time out” we have each other for constant connection and support. And around the clock, I see chessed, loving-kindness, like what Shari did.
So proud of each and every one of you. My Momentum Family.
Did you know that there are Jewish laws about avoiding gossip? They are called lashon hara, literally evil tongue or evil speech. The gift of speech allows us to communicate. What we say can create waves of positivity, or trigger tsunamis of destruction. The world is both made and potentially destroyed with words – and we all know that if the pen is mightier than the sword, the tongue is even mightier.
