With fears over the Coronavirus rising, wherever I go, things are changing. Everyone is washing hands for extended times in airport bathrooms and trying to avoid touching surfaces and door handles. But just when you think you’re clear, you touch another surface and have to start all over again!
The threat to our economy is real, as the ripple effect impacts many sectors.
Of course, I have also been thinking about deeper messages of this outbreak, as we have to not only respond on a practical level but also spiritual.
Incredibly, this dangerous virus that can harm and cause death is spreading rapidly from country to country. Imagine spreading good just as quickly and creating life! Try and think of something positive that you can spread — share wisdom, a kind word, words of affirmation, love.
Also, you see that in the end, we are one people, all residing on this incredible planet. No matter what race, religion, or nationality, no one is escaping this shared danger. We are all in this together. And if we are vigilant and caring of others, G-d willing we can get through this together.
May The Almighty protect us from harm, and may we all hear the messages, in this world, and from Above.

Jewish wisdom teaches: praising a child’s ethics, morals, and ideals is more important than praising their academic marks. If our children’s honesty, inclusiveness, and kindness garners the same praise as an A on their report card, our children will develop healthy self-esteem that isn’t tied to their intellect or academic achievements.
