Welcome Home!
Within minutes, women who were strangers became someone you know in your soul you’ve always known.
There are so many reasons why it is important for us to find qualities in others that are less superficial. To start this day, we had the pleasure of hearing Adrienne Gold share the importance of “attaching your dignity to something external.” She shared that there is so much more than the outside of someone’s body. The video we watched about being comfortable in your skin gave me the power to make my girls understand the importance of “working as hard on your inner world as you do on your outer world.”
As we continued with Nili explaining about Shabbat, it was beautiful. She explained how we are the Battery Pack, and Israel is the Charging Station of the Jewish People. She reminded us we should treat ourselves like we are a small child and should be taken care of.
Getting Shabbat ready in Jerusalem is a sight to see, from the smell of challah being baked to the hustle and bustle of people getting last minute items!
The amazing concert we had at the Aish building set the mood for Shabbat.. endless dancing and singing and bonding together! As we walked out to the Kotel and spent time singing again, it brought tears to my eyes – there is something to be said about seeing all the men and women praying as they welcomed Shabbat. One of the best parts about Shabbat was disconnecting and leaving my phone for 25 hours. I never thought this was possible, but it was the best feeling to spend time with my group and new friends without worrying about being on my phone.
The Shabbat morning session with Nili gave me a list of helpful strategies to use as I help my daughters grow. It was empowering to hear her stories and how she related them to our real-life situations! I can’t wait to implement them in my home!! From the morning session, we enjoyed a long walk to our host family. They welcomed us into their home and shared their beautiful children with us! It was so nice to see and hear what life in Jerusalem is like.
To end Shabbat, we visited the Clamans. What a stunning home they have! It was interesting to hear about their organization and from the soldiers as they shared their experiences. Havdallah, fireworks, and singing on the rooftop of the house were the best! This Jerusalem Shabbat was one that I will never forget!
