“Change your place, change your destiny.” The Talmud
As many of you know, our son, Zev, just got engaged to the most wonderful girl, Alana Schwartz. Both families are beyond thrilled.
These two young adults made brave decisions to get to this auspicious time. Alana moved to Israel 11 years ago from Denver, Colorado, with no family here. She teaches ESL (English as a Second Language) to special needs Israeli adults, including those who are blind. You can imagine how incredible she is.
Zev served as a lone soldier in the IDF 10 years ago, and after his service moved to Canada (where he was born) to go to university. At the height of Covid, in the summer of 2020, he decided to make aliyah and move back to Israel. He went into ulpan online to improve his Hebrew and then “met a girl” on OkCupid Jerusalem. He also got into a tour guide course that is not easy to get into and loves it.
Both made brave decisions that meant changing their “place,” and those decisions changed their destinies.
We don’t always have to make a geographic change to change our lives, and it can also be a brave personal change– that shifts something inside, pointing us in a different direction.
The Almighty is always sending us messages to help us head the right way, and we need to listen and courageously choose.
Just like Zev and Alana.
May we share many more simchas.
