It’s the Last 10 Minutes of the War

I read a very interesting blog the other day called “The Last 10 Minutes of the War”. The writer detailed the story of serving as an officer in the IDF during the Lebanon War just before a ceasefire was to begin. They were on Israel’s northern border, and he and his men started packing things up. One of his men was doing the opposite, putting on his armor and gear.

“What are you doing?” asked the officer.

“Don’t you know the last 10 minutes of the war are the worst?”

The officer heard it, gave the order, and everyone geared up. And sure enough, there was a huge and constant barrage in the last 10 minutes before the ceasefire, and then silence.

That’s how I feel about our lives now. We have been living this nightmare for almost a year. Quarantine and lockdown fatigue combined with vaccines are causing people to drop their guard and get lax. Now the numbers of sick and dead are rising higher than ever before.

It’s the last 10 minutes of the war, and we must rally together and hang tough until the end. Yes, it’s hard. It’s very, very hard.

We are in the middle of the last barrage, but it will, please God, end, and there will be silence. And then we will emerge to a new life.

I choose life.
