#SpreadingLove
Let’s dial up the love, even with those who may be hard to love, and hope that the Almighty looks down at us and does the same.
I believe you are feeling like I am, asking– “What can I do!?”
Countless organizations are on the ground in Eastern Europe trying to help amidst the horror. They are not only helping the refugees on the ground; they are reaffirming all of our hope in humanity. In the face of evil, what can one do? Chessed– loving kindness.
Remember, chessed is not what I feel like doing. Chessed is: you have a need, and I want to fulfill it. What could be greater than that? Fulfilling a need that they don’t even know they have.
The most poignant chessed came from mothers to mothers. You may have seen the picture I posted that showed a row of baby strollers at a Polish train station. Polish mothers knew that Ukrainian mothers were soon arriving on packed trains, fleeing for their lives, clutching their babies. The Ukrainian women would step off the trains not knowing where they would go, but the Polish mothers knew, wherever they go, they would need strollers.
And so they came. And left the strollers. Mother to mother.
Yes, donate money, and put chessed into your home, community, and world.
AND….one simple and powerful way is to pray for them. We have readapted our Care with a Prayer site (that thousands used during the pandemic for healthcare heroes) for the people of Ukraine.
Take a name, add a name….and call out to The Almighty. On the site, you will see a prayer composed by a rabbi in the 19th century in Ukraine that unfortunately still applies today…”In every generation they came to annihilate us….” :
It is our spiritual stroller for each and every one of them.
As our eyes and ears remain glued to the news, our thoughts turn to our Momentum sisters, their families, and the entire Jewish community in Ukraine. Our partners in Ukraine, the Chabad Kolel Torah Network, and the Jewish Agency for Israel are accepting donations to get assistance to those in need. We have readapted our Care with a Prayer site for the people of Ukraine. Join Momentum in supporting our sisters, their families, and the entire Jewish community in Ukraine. Your prayers can make a world of difference.
Let’s dial up the love, even with those who may be hard to love, and hope that the Almighty looks down at us and does the same.
At Driving to Greatness, the MoMENtum Men’s Retreat in Orlando, Florida, we got real about our lives and our potential – and put ourselves in the driver’s seat. With educators Charlie Harary, Ari Shabat, and Harry Rothenberg as our guides, we tackled how to handle failures and setbacks, bounce back, and succeed the way we want to.
