It never gets old
If you are in Israel now, there is a good chance you have seen hundreds of women with red backpacks swarming the sites, streets, shops, and restaurants of Tel Aviv, Tiberias, Tsfat, and Jerusalem.
As our kids grow and begin to marry and disperse, we realized that one of our new jobs is to make sure that the family stays as connected as possible, and we are here to do everything we can to make that happen.
This Shabbat, our married son, and his family who live in Jerusalem are visiting their siblings in America for the first time in two years. That means, because of Covid travel restrictions, their kids, the little cousins, are meeting for the very first time. With pleasure, we helped financially to make it easier to happen, because as we have discussed before, nothing makes a parent happier than to see their kids love each other.
We even renovated our home to make it easier to accommodate guests and family, so while three of our kids and their families are rendezvousing for Shabbat in Detroit, we are hosting my brother and sister-in-law who live between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv,
The Jewish people are a family, and we must do everything we can to keep it together. And just like with our own families, it will take thought, desire, effort, and, yes, some finances in order to make it happen.
Kol Yisrael areivim zeh b’zeh. Keep the family together because we need, and are responsible, for one another.
