Dear Momentum Family–
Like you, I have many people around me with many needs. We step up and do our best in a practical way, but of course, we are limited. I want to share with you that when you tap into G-d, all limits fly away.
About three months ago, I suggested to my husband that we do “40 Days at the Kotel”. The Talmud teaches that praying for something for 40 days in a row opens up a certain door in shamayim, heaven. The Torah is filled with the number 40– Moses was on Mt Sinai for 40 days, the Jews were in the desert for 40 years, gestation for a new baby is 40 weeks….
Since Israel at the time was closed, no one in, and no one out, what a perfect opportunity to tap into this powerful opportunity.
So off we went every day, rain or shine, snow or sleet (yes, that happened)…even when Jaffa Gate was closed, we went around to another gate and got ourselves in. Forty days– if you miss one, you have to begin again.
Prayer is not a slot machine; it’s a deep, internal process. The Hebrew word for prayer is “lahitpalel”, which means to self-examine. Through the experience of prayer, we self-reflect, dig deep, understanding what we want and why we want it.
And I want to tell you, I have seen miracles. Not a week goes by that I don’t see the answers to another one of those prayers that I cried out each day for 40 days.
If you have the merit of living in Israel or the merit to spend time there soon– try and set up your life that you too can have this awesome experience. If you cannot be there now, turn to the east and point your heart to Jerusalem, and call out from the depths of your soul. G-d is waiting to hear from you.
May we all see revealed miracles in our time.
Good Shabbos, Shabbat Shalom–
Lori

Snow!
For the locally born Israeli kids in our neighborhood, there were squeals of delight as the fluffy flakes fell.
