Something very cool happened this week. As you know, I am honored to represent all of you next week on Yom HaAtzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day, as one of the 12 Torch Lighters, representing the Jews of the Diaspora. Because of the present situation, instead of being able to go to the Knesset as in past years, we all got together on Zoom. The plan was that we would meet each other and the Minister of Culture and Sport, Miri Regev, who headed the committee to select who would light this year.
Thirty minutes before the Zoom began, we found out that it would now be on Facebook Live, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sarah would be the special guests. We would each have 60 seconds to introduce ourselves to them.
It was crazy fun! I was nervous when it was my turn, but I think it turned out great! It also taught me that life continues to happen, even when you don’t leave your home.
I believe you are feeling like I am, asking– “What can I do!?”
