Dear Momentum Family –
Who are the role models of your life?
This week I lost one of my greatest ones, Rebbetzin Faygie Hoch of blessed memory.
As a young single girl in Toronto at the beginning of my Jewish journey, Faygie, not that much older than me, was a loving, funny and wise example of what a Jewish woman should embody— commitment, caring, dignity and devotion. She was one of the greatest wives and mothers I have ever known, leading with a prayer, practical advice, and always with a smile.
Positive light was shown from her as she sanctified every space: home, classroom, community. She was real, the most genuine person who truly cared about everyone – you, your new baby, your parents, your siblings.
My entire family owes so much to her and her husband, Rabbi Ahron Hoch, incredible leaders of the Toronto Jewish community.
May Hashem comfort the community and the family, all-knowing that she leaves this world soaring on the countless kindnesses she did in this world. Our lives are darker, but her pure neshama, her soul, shines very bright in Heaven.
She will be beyond missed. Baruch Dayan HaEmet, Blessed is the Judge of Truth.
Good Shabbos, Shabbat Shalom–

Lori
