Could It Be Reverse Psychology?

Wherever I am in the world, Jews are clamoring to try and get to Israel. They are applying, trying to pull strings, booking and re-booking, yearning, praying….and that’s good.

When something is always there and always available to us, we can often take it for granted. It could be a relationship, our health, a bank account, or the very roof over our heads. When is the wake-up call? When it is taken away from us.

When making plans, I try to always say “please G-d” or “G-d willing”. “Planning to visit you this week, please G-d.”

When answering an inquiry as to my health, I try to always end with, “thank G-d.”

Because, as we know, “Man plans, G-d laughs,” and things can change in a blink of an eye.

Now simply booking a flight to Israel is not so simple anymore. And I can’t help thinking that this is perhaps G-d’s way of reminding us once again not to take for granted what our Rabbi called “A miracle in our times”– the State of Israel, the only Homeland for the Jewish People. We can always get on a plane…?

This week I thank G-d that I am back, that I was able to get in despite the ever-changing rules and regulations put in place to keep us safe. I am now on Day 2 of a mandated 3-day quarantine and could not be happier.

The formula: Persistence. Patience. Prayer.
