There are 630 women here in Israel on Momentum. Each one has a story. This is a special one.
After a moving day at Yad Vashem (Holocaust Museum), they all came to The Old City for a heartfelt talk on prayer. Then, in silence, they walked to the Kotel, the Western Wall, to pour out their hearts to their Creator.
Many wrote notes, and many had brought notes from home to place in the ancient cracks.
One woman was especially emotional and came over to me because I had shared that G-d had answered our prayers when our son got engaged to a wonderful and amazing girl who teaches English as a second language to blind Israeli adults.
We hugged. We cried. She placed his note and said a prayer only a mother could pray.
She told me her 11-year-old son battled childhood cancer that has left him blind. She wanted to thank G-d for granting him life and had a note from him in braille to put in the Wall.
She cried and wondered if they could possibly come here for his bar mitzvah.
I told her to look over on the men’s side and picture it, see it, imagine it. And I would not only help make it happen, but I would also host their Bar Mitzvah Friday night Shabbat dinner in my home, which is a 15-minute walk away.
She said not only could she see it; she saw him looking up at the end, beaming with his beautiful smile.
Welcome to the life G-d has given me the privilege to live. To help lead these women to the best and purest part of themselves.
Each day, the news is different, often depending on how the government votes. I know that their goal is to keep us safe, and I respect that. But what about our plans?!
Since few of us have “crystal balls”. All we can do is our best when it comes time to “plan.”
“I lost three babies, and I always felt like people were looking at me every time I walked into the synagogue, as if everyone was asking, ‘Where are her kids?’” said Silvia. “I felt so alone, as if I was failing at the most important job a Jewish woman is bound to fulfill.” During her MOMentum trip, Silvia shared her story – and her openness created a safe space for numerous other women who had also battled infertility, suffered pregnancy loss, and endured treatments to speak up as well.
