Momentum Unity Trip

Intro Image

Since October 7, we have expanded our flagship Momentum Israel trip experience to include the Momentum Unity Trip for individual applicants who are not traveling with a Partner Organization.

Embedded along cohorts recruited by Partner organizations from around the world, The Unity Trip is a profound seven-day immersive experience to the heart of Israel. This once-in-a-lifetime journey opens the soul to the spirit of unity that defines the Jewish homeland.

Along with Momentum sisters from across the globe, and Israeli women and mothers, this special educational journey leads participants not only through Israel but also to a more meaningful Jewish identity. The Momentum Unity Trip is the inspiration to connect to Jewish values, engage more deeply with Israel, and gain the confidence to take action by standing up and speaking out.

If you do not live near, or are not affiliated with a Momentum Partner Organization and would like to participate in the Momentum Unity Tripplease apply here.

All approved applicants for the Momentum Unity Trip will be thoughtfully placed into a Cohort with a Cohort Leader. Cohorts will meet for Reflection time to unpack and process on the trip. (If you are interested in becoming a Cohort Leader, please specify on your trip application.)

Safety and Security

The safety and well-being of our Momentum participants and staff is paramount to us.

We adhere strictly to the safety and security standards, guided by the protocols established by the IDF’s Homefront Command (Pikud HaOref). With a history of safely facilitating meaningful experiences, Momentum has brought over 23,000 participants to Israel since 2009.

Who should apply to the trip?

This is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with Israel. Momentum’s alumnae and new potential participants, Jewish mothers, who are willing to strengthen Israel and its people, and share the impact of this trip with their networks and communities are invited.
Priority will be given to the following audiences:

· Participants, alumni and new, coming in through a Momentum partner organization (partner organization incentive available)
· Momentum Leadership Fellows
· Individuals who are less connected to their Jewish identity and community and motivated to become more engaged

Where will I stay during the trip?

We will be staying at hotels in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and any travel during the day will start and return there.

Do I need a visa?

Israel requires all non-citizens from visa-exempt countries to complete a short ETA visa application before travel. It only takes a few minutes and costs 25 NIS.

What is the cancellation policy?

  • If Momentum cancels the trip, the fees are fully reimbursed.
  • You can cancel until 30 days before the trip and get a full refund of less than $100.
  • Flight arrangements are between the individual and the airline operator.

Are there any expectations after the trip?

Two post-trip online sessions are scheduled to provide you with support in effectively communicating the trip’s impact to your broader networks. Please anticipate attending these two sessions, which will occur a few weeks apart, upon return. These workshop-styled sessions will enable sharing of ideas and exchanging best practices.

How strenuous is the trip?

These days will be physically and emotionally intensive and long. Participants will walk an average of 3 miles daily, and there are many stairs to navigate in Jerusalem.

What is the language of the trip?

This trip will be for English speakers. Participants from countries where English is not the primary language can join as long as they speak English fluently and are aware that all content throughout the trip will be offered in English.

Can I bring gifts/donations to support Israel? If yes, then what do you recommend?

Absolutely. Needs are changing swiftly. Momentum is coordinating with groups in need of equipment and will be sending a list to all participants with the specific items to bring. Please wait for instructions from Momentum before purchasing anything so that we can be sure that all items can be received and distributed within Israel. Please note, that Momentum will allow participants to bring a 2nd duffle bag with gifts and donations.

Do I need to purchase insurance?

  • Yes, all participants need to purchase a travel insurance policy of their choice. It’s important to be aware of what the policy includes and what is excluded. Momentum is not responsible for any travel-related cancellations.
  • Momentum will provide health insurance for the dates of the trip.

Do I need an active data/cell phone plan in Israel?

Each participant needs to have an active DATA plan for the trip for safety and for daily communication on WhatsApp. WiFi alone is not enough as it can be spotty and slow.

Participants can activate an international plan through their own cellular provider or purchase a sim card or eSIM card (if the phone can be unlocked) from our preferred provider Talk N Save. Use discount code unity5 to receive a 5% discount on your order.

How can I pack most efficiently?

Please use the Momentum trip packing guide as a reference.

This trip will have an optional Dead Sea component. If you plan on visiting the Dead Sea, please bring a bathing suit, towel, and water shoes.

This trip does include active programs, so comfortable clothes and shoes, including some that you don’t mind getting dirty (from outside activities), are important.

Participants may bring:

  • 1 full-size suitcase
  • 1 backpack (you will receive a Momentum backpack in Israel)
  • 1 personal item without wheels (i.e. purse, fanny back, or small duffel)
  • A 2nd duffle bag for gifts and donations (optional)

What flights should I book?

Flights to Israel must arrive no later than 1 PM on the first day of your Momentum Trip. Departures should not be scheduled before 11 PM on the trip’s final day, Israel time.

What transportation is provided to and from the airport?

Momentum will provide a bus service from the airport to the hotel on the first day of the trip. This service will be available between 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM, provided that at least 15 people arrive on flights during this timeframe. The bus departure times will be scheduled based on the flight arrival times and will be communicated two weeks before the trip.

Will there be time on the trip to visit friends and family?

We recommend arriving early or staying after the trip to spend time with friends and family so you do not miss any programs and activites on the trip.

Is there WiFi?

For information on using electronics and wifi while in Israel, please visit this link.

When do I need to dress modestly?

Some of the places we visit (such as the Kotel/Western Wall and other holy sites) require women to wear shirts with sleeves and cover knees and cleavage. While you want to always dress comfortably, it is important to be prepared to dress more modestly at times and have a pashmina or light sweater to put on.
