POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), this position drives the daily operations of a global professional team of six marketing specialists, as well as a broad base of vendors and contractors. Oversees the development of detailed work plans to operationalize the marketing and branding vision of the Board and Executive Team and ensures project deadlines and milestones are met.
Stewards a cross-functional team to implement key organizational initiatives and serves as the lead project manager, working with other functions (e.g., development, education, & programs) to understand communications needs, and advise on messaging and optimizing global audience engagement. Upholds the Momentum brand in all communications, strengthens our voice with varying audiences, and plays a significant role in content development and editing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Management:
With the guidance of the CMO, hires, trains, supervises, and coaches the professional marketing team including areas of design, content development, video, web, photography, podcasts, social and writing. Ensures roles and assignments are clear, a positive team culture is developed, and staff accomplishments are recognized.
Researches, engages, and oversees vendors and contractors, ensuring the quality and timing of deliverables and maintaining approved budget levels.
Marketing Operations:
With optimal turnaround, oversees the review and approval of all marketing collateral and assets including print, email, video content, and scripts.
Establishes and enforces branding and quality standards, and ensures streamlined workflow with efficient timeline management.
Implements exceptional project management systems and tools ensuring clear roles and decision making, timeline and budget management, and proactive progress monitoring.
Collaborates with staff in brainstorming, providing feedback, and supporting their work to achieve product excellence.
Provides project direction, sets appropriate deadlines, directs the management of priorities, and effectively resolves unexpected problems or delays to keep workflow moving.
Develops and implements strong project management tools to track numerous projects in varying stages of development and execution. Implements reporting systems to proactively communicate expectations and status updates to all internal clients.
Ensures projects are appropriately aligned with global audiences, all relevant languages are represented, and proper content is translated.
Work with CMO to prepare annual and project budgets, monitor spending to stay within approved parameters, and prepare relevant reports
Ensures historical press coverage is tracked and catalogued.
Strategy & Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partners with key organizational leaders to understand marketing needs, strategic goals, and intended audiences (e.g., individual donors, institutional funders, participants, international partners, press).
In partnership with the CMO, contributes to overall marketing strategy and initiatives, supports content development for organizational projects, and supports the work of the Board Marketing Committee.
Develops strategic concepts for marketing approaches and recommends the optimal multi-faceted business solutions that utilize varying formats (e.g., email, social media, blogs, website copy, flyers, newsletters, trip materials etc.). Ensures brand standards, a global market, and quality are reflected in all approaches
Builds and maintains strong, collaborative partnerships with department leaders to uphold Marketing & Communications’ commitment to exceptional thought partnership.
Development Liaison:
Provide internal client stewardship to the Development team and serve as the project manager for all development communications projects. (e.g., flyers, videos, donor presentations, crowdfunding, and targeted fundraising initiatives).
Assist with copywriting and editing for development materials.
Ensure all communications materials appropriately consider donor and prospect audiences.
Content Development/Editorial & Writing:
Develops innovative, informative, and engaging copy for a wide range of audiences and formats. Ensures meticulous editing and proofreading of all personally generated work.
Leads team in developing optimal content, topics, and editorial overview for stories consistent with organizational brand and strategy.
Prepares collateral for donor communication, annual reports, and organizational programs
Proofs and approves all collateral to ensure nothing is released and/or delivered with errors.
Reviews, edits, and proofs copy created by Momentum leaders to ensure it’s audience-relevant and on-brand.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required; communications, marketing, or journalism focus preferred
8-10 years of relevant experience in marketing project management; prior experience creating cutting-edge marketing materials; global experience preferred; prior staff supervision experience required
Demonstrated ability to develop a marketing strategy to address varying business needs
Good writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Strong organizational and project management skills with emphasis on accuracy and quality
Capable of both creative and art direction as well as attention to detail and process management
Must be able to work effectively within a department team and across functions
Self-motivated, takes initiative, is resourceful, and learns quickly with strong problem-solving skills
Strong knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions strongly preferred
Must have flexibility to work nontraditional hours including occasional evenings and Sundays, as needed to address time-sensitive business needs.
SKILLS
- Solid Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools – Asana preferred
- Strength in Hubspot and social media platforms
