Updates About Our May Trips

We hope that you and your families are staying safe. At Momentum, our first priority is ensuring our participants’ well-being. We continue to closely monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation with support from Israel’s Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, and in consultation with other Jewish/Israel Trip Organizers and Agencies.

We would like to update you on our ongoing efforts.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone our May Momentum Trips.

While some flights continue to fly in and out of Israel, we do not want to put anyone at risk of quarantine or, God forbid, risk exposure. As mothers, you have enormous responsibilities – to yourself, your families, your careers, and your communities. With over 450 Momentum participants and staff, coming from 11 different countries, the need for vigilance and precaution is even greater. We postpone with a heavy heart but in anticipation of coming together in Israel in the near future.

We are happy to refund fees and deposits already paid by May Trip participants within 60 days. With deep humility, we also ask that you consider donating your deposit or making whatever donation you are able here to assist our organization with the burden of the last-minute cancellation costs. We would be profoundly grateful.

We hope to be in touch with you and your Partner Organizations soon with the options to join our Momentum Year-Long Journey at a later date.

We will make sure to keep you updated if there is new information to share, or if our plans change due to revised guidelines or new circumstances.

We know this is an anxious time for families. Here are some helpful resources for how to speak to your children about coronavirus:

Lori Palatnik, Momentum’s Founding Director, shares the following message: All of this is happening during the time of Purim, celebrating a historical turning point for the Jewish people. In approximately 357 BCE, Jews living in Persia (today Iran) were marked for destruction but ultimately saved en masse by both their practical and spiritual efforts. Spiritually they came together as one, beseeching The Almighty for salvation. And then Esther strengthened and inspired by their actions, went before the king and cleverly won him over to our side. Today, where people of the world are in danger en masse, let us act accordingly– practically and spiritually, and may we again see salvation and miracles in our time.

We are thinking of you, your families, and our communities across the world. We pray for a refuah shleimah, a speedy recovery, for all those who are affected by this disease. May God bless all of us with good health.
