Sisters through simcha and sorrow
Since their Momentum trip, Merri and her sisters have stuck together during times of simcha and sorrow. Now, it is time for her to call on them in return.
Dear Momentum Family –
Did you ever have so much on your plate, you needed to switch to a platter…or an oversized tray?
I am the type of person who normally can handle a lot, so the Almighty throws a lot my way. This week it has been…a lot! Thankfully, it is a mixture of positive things and challenging things, moving in a positive direction. And the HP (Higher Power) along the way has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Case in point: Supporters from the U.S. were in Israel this week for a family Simcha. They came the opening night of the Momentum group currently here to see for the first time our movement in action. We spoke about their family, and he told me about his mother, of blessed memory. She passed away in Israel at 103. She had been imprisoned in Auschwitz, and because she knew several languages, became a leader and helped the women survive. Once liberated, she gathered up 1,000 Hungarian Jewish women who were wandering Germany as survivors and convinced the allies to give her a train and brought them back to Hungary.
I am not known as a person who normally frequents cemeteries of the righteous, but I was unusually moved and drawn to this woman and asked if it was possible for me to visit her gravesite. Today they were going, so I went too.
The gravestone had her name: Rachel Leba. My name is Leba Rachel. Beside her was her husband’s stone, his name was Yakov. My husband’s name is Yakov.
The prayers came easily, that in the merit of this righteous woman who led 1,000 women out of the camps and home, may I be blessed also to lead thousands of women home.
Good Shabbos, Shabbat Shalom–
Lori

We have 350 Momentum mothers here from across the U.S., France, South Africa, and Israel, and I was scheduled to speak to them on their opening night this week in Tel Aviv.
